
Another quick figure study of the statuette. Set up slightly higher than it should have been, as I mismeasured the headdress a bit. Definitely going back to darken the background when the first coat sets a bit.
Getting the timing down though. For the most part this was done in about 30 minutes before going back to fill in the negative space.
Really beginning to understand what my father was doing with my old bicycle horn. sitting down and starting a session by painting a relatively simple small work as a bit of a throwaway is a great way to ‘warm up’. As he said, it’s a bit like doing scales on the piano.
