Sources and Suppliers

Just a set of lists of places that I have bought stuff and appreciate my experience with the company enough to recommend them to others.

Leather/Luggage

since Macpherson leather, my favored local supplier of choice, was rather rudely closed down by it’s parent company, I’ve had to branch out to other tool and material suppliers.

  • Montana Leather – a good source for leather
  • Buckleguy – More luggage hardware
  • Ohio Travel Bag – even more luggage hardware, but they were recently bought out by:
  • Weaver Leather – who still maintain OTB as a separate section. but now they have the leather as well.

Pottery

There are two good local supply houses for this. both will ship and I like both.

Wood/Lumber

the lumberyards that I’ve had pleasant experiences buying from

  • Crosscut Hardwoods of Seattle – as their tagline suggests, the woodworker’s candy store. delightful selection, helpful staff, (especially if you actually read the signs posted around the place and follow the rules thereon
  • Limback Lumber – most of my boat project and the Chair project was bought from these guys. When I was building the boat in the basement, they were the most convenient lumberyard with quality wood. now that my place of work is on the other side of town, crosscut is much more convenient, and the weird wood selection is more interesting. but Limback were always helpful to me and happily delivered too my door.
