Halloween progress, step 3

Subdermal taping

Step 3 is pretty straightforward, wrap the frame in tape. The tape I’m using is gummed Kraft paper tape. Mostly I know this stuff in its role as part of the watercolor paper stretching process.

Basically this is paper mâché, but with a sturdier paper. technically you are supposed to moisten the glue without wetting the paper. You can certainly work a bit faster that way. But wetting out the paper by simply dunking the paper tape in a bucket of water has the benefit of making the paper a bit more flexible. Considering the curved surfaces it makes sense.
